ITABACA CANAL – SANTA FÉ ISLAND

  • Santa Fe Island is located at east from Santiago. Geologically it is one the oldest, the vegetation of this islander is characterized by brush, Palo Santo trees, and stands of a large variety of the prickly pear cactus Opuntia echios. It has an estimated surface of around 24 square kilometers and reaches an altitude of 260 meters in its highest point. Creating a magnificent bay with calm turquoise water.
  • The tour starts around 7:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel or previously selected meeting point. Then we will ride the boat for around 45 minutes until we reach Santa Fe. The visitors will have a wet landing located in Barrington Bay on the northeastern of the island. As we enter the island we are welcomed by sea lions resting in the rocks around the bay. We will take a hike where we will be able to watch the two species of land iguanas that live in Galapagos (can be hard to find). While we walk you will be able to notice the appearance of marine iguanas, night herons and land seagulls, making this a spectacular journey. Santa Fe Island has a very distinctive element in its vegetation, giant cactuses form a shocking landscape in the island and work as a source of food for land iguanas.
  • After our walk we will return to the bay in order to have lunch and get ready for some snorkeling. Snorkeling in Santa Fe is unique due to the wonderful bay, the turquoise waters allows us to have perfect visibility of the great marine fauna that lives in it. Here you will swim in the company of sea lions, stingrays, sea turtles and a variety of tropical fish.
